The Harlem based nonprofit Global Language Project needs your support.
The work with public elementary schools in Harlem to implement world
language programs (Spanish and Chinese). The premise being that
learning a second language early can be key in opening many
opportunities for disadvantaged youth in higher education and in the
workforce. Currently their organization is up for a $50,000 grant on
Pepsi Refresh this month.
Pepsi is giving away millions of dollars to fund projects that make
the world a better place. Each month, Pepsi lets the public vote for
the winner. We plan to use this money to expand our program, while
keeping it free for all students.
Would you PLEASE vote for them http://pep.si/9MHAJM and share this
campaign with your friends and followers.
Harlem Social spoke with Natasha Reid, founder of the Harlem based FIT Money Magazine about social media and here’s what she had to say.
HS: How has social media played a role in your success with FIT Money Magazine?
Reid: Social media palyed a HUGH role. By using the various social media sites, we can alert our readers to our next issue, connect with them on topics they may like or dislike, find out what they would like to see and truly engage with them in dialogue traditionally held for mail, email correspondence or long wait times in the phone cue. Social media raise our brand awareness as well. I can’t tell you how many conversations I’ve been in with people I have recently met and when I tell them I’m with F.I.T. Money, the response is similar, “Oh, I’ve heard of that somewhere before.”
